I’ve been on Etsy for a while now, if you don’t know what Etsy is…It’s basically a platform for crafters to sell their creations. I was first introduced to Etsy in 2010 (When I first started playing with Polymer Clay) I was overwhelmed that there is actually a market for creators / crafters like me! This was definitely an eye opening thing for me, I felt so “home” LOL. Of course, I didn’t started listing anything till 2012, I listed some digital prints I made (since I’m a designer…) I made some wedding invitations, some cupcake toppers… And surprisingly, some people started purchasing my stuffs! Although it’s really slow sales, but I’m pretty amazed haha.

Then when my friend asked me to make babygroots when Guardian of the Galaxy just came out, I listed that on my Etsy and boom boom pow orders started pouring in! Till today I’m still receiving orders for my babygroots! I’m really thankful for those who helped me promote on their social medias, that’s how I got my traffic 🙂 And of course, everyone one of you who purchased my babygroots, I’m so thankful! That actually motivated me to take my crafting to the next level and make this my full time job 🙂

So there you go! That’s how I started on Etsy 🙂

I then found out about Etsy Malaysia.. We have teams (like groups on facebook) which anyone can set up any teams, be it knitting / sewing / polymer clay teams… At that time, I stumbled across Etsy Malaysia Local Team. Many of the “senior Malaysian crafters” have started this team to unite Malaysians on Etsy 🙂 We shared our stories, problems and issues in the Team, which was pretty cool cause the “seniors” would always help me out lol.

Okay, so now to the Etsy Craft Party….

So I’m helping out at the event with a few “senior Malaysian Etsy peeps” hahaaaa..

Every year Etsy teams all over the world host an ‘annual celebration of meeting and making’. The Craft Party ‘is all about making connections with the community while making something with your hands’. This year Team Etsy Malaysia will join the rest of the world to celebrate the Etsy Craft Party on the 18th of June 2016 (Saturday). There are 3 session slots to choose from and each session lasts approximately 2 hours long.

Our Craft Party activity this year features the Art of Weaving where team members and the community will come together to create a simple tapestry of their own design. An homage to the melting pot of cultures and diversity so intertwined that makes Malaysia the unique country that it is, this activity hopes to remind participants of the beauty in the amalgamation of elements as well as the traditional skill set possessed by human for centuries.

Following through Murni’s prior collaboration with our team in 2012, this will be the 6th Etsy Craft Party to date. Come join us for a wonderful few hours of fun and creativity.

We will be making weaving stuffs like this:

Pretty cool eh! If you’re interested to join, feel free to CHECK ME OUT 🙂
It’s RM15 per pax, just to repeat, we have 3 sessions you can join in, light refreshments will be served as well 🙂

COME JOIN US! 😀
